Well, it's been a long week, (or at least 4 days) but things are about to pick up again. We completed teaching Mercedes last week and she had her baptismal interview. She is doing so well and is totally prepared to be baptized this Saturday!!! She is also going to be in a school play this week that a lot of kids from the ward are involved in. It's "The Wizard of Oz" and she is playing Galinda. We got permission to go from President Manion so that will be fun! it's the day before her baptism.
We also Got another investigator on date. I haven't mentioned him much because he's a little crazy and has been taught by missionaries for nearly a year know. He's kind of bipolar and has had a hard life, but we've got to the point with him where he know's he's ready to be baptized. He's quit Coffee and is making strides in quitting smoking. We set him up to be baptized on the 28 of June.
So that pretty much brings me up to the last couple of days, where we have had no set appointments and so lots of tracting and visiting former investigators. It's been kind of a drag, so I'll relate to you Just what happened Friday. We spent the morning walking through the surrounding neighborhood visiting former's and talking to everyone. It was freezing and cloudy and rainy. No success with anyone. then we went and visited a former investigator out in a different neighborhood, who actually moved and so we talked with a rough around the edges guy who lives in that house now. We wouldn't accept the beer, and weed and tea that he offered, but we did accept the Budweiser hats. We just cut off the Budweiser logo afterwards haha. We ended up talking to him on his back porch for like an hour. Guy had some weird beliefs. We went from there to get some Chinese food for dinner, which made Elder Jennings sick haha. It was a weird, long day.
Anyway, things are going well here overall, and everything will be back to normal soon. I came across a scripture in Philippians the other day, and I thought it was insightful.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. -Philippians 4:5
Be careful for nothing is more correctly translated "don't be unduly concerned about anything" So do your best and don't worry about things that are outside of your control. Pray that the Lord will bless your performance and prepare the way before you.
